DRG Welcomes New Announcer!

Skip Spence

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) We’d like to introduce you to that new voice you’ve been hearing on Dakota Radio Group stations and on KGFX! Our newest announcer to Pierre/Fort Pierre is Skip Spence! Skip comes to South Dakota from his previous job, working as Operations Manager at WGFA AM/FM south of Chicago. He was born in Illinois and raised around Evansville, Indiana. He got into radio at the tender age of 16 and has worked at stations from St. Louis, to Nashville, to southwest Florida and other locations. He has worn a number of “radio hats”, from announcer to station manager and station owner. He has also done news, sports, and worked at stations with formats ranging from Christian to Oldies, Top 40, Adult Contemporary and Album Rock. Skip says he chose to come to Pierre for its quality of life; having been impressed on a recent visit here for its “real radio” and “real people”. He also traces his family roots back to the Pierre and Reliance areas. Again, welcome Skip…the newest member of the DRG family!

I worked with Skip at Oldies 96.3 in Nashville, TN. and watched him as he helped sign on WAY-FM. You’ve got a good one Pierre!
