PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Swim Team finsihed up the summer swimming season by bringing home a third place finish at the South Dakota State Long Course Meet in Rapid City over the weekend. The Pierre swimmers scored 2,421.50 to finish behind state champion Sioux Falls and runner up Rapid City. Christopher Rumrill won a pair of races as he finished first in the 200 Freestyle and 200 fly. He also placed in 4 other races to lead the Pierre Swimmers. Wyatt Rumrill also won two races as he placed first in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke. Wyatt also placed in 5 other events while Alex McLain finished first in the 100 backstroke for the other first place finish for Pierre. For the girls, there were first place finishers as well. Allycen Herrman, Raegan Wiebe, Morkeia Mutchelknaus and Morgan Nelson won the girls 9-10 age division 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Oskana Mutchelknaus was the lone girl from the Pierre Swim team to capture a championship as she won both the 50 meter fly and the 100 meter fly while placing in another five events. The Pierre swimmers will have a break until November when they begin preperations for the winter season.
