PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) An Eagle Butte man pled guilty to one count of an indictment that charged him with Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person. 25-year-old Louden Garreau was in federal court in Pierre Tuesday and entered the plea, for which he could receive a sentence of ten years in prison, a $250,000 fine or both. Court officials say that in April of this year, Garreau had a loaded semi-automatic handgun which he shot several times “for fun” while at a cemetery. Garreau had previously been convicted of a felony in Pennington County and is prohibited from possessing a firearm because of that. Garreau will be sentenced October 22 and is in U.S. Marshal Custody until that date.
