PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 American Legion Baseball team will play their final regular season doubleheader tonight at Hyde Stadium when they host the Sioux Falls Post 307 squad for a 5:30 pm doubleheader. Post 307 is in their first year of existence and is coached by veteren coach Josh Merrigan who previously coached the Sioux Falls West Legion squad. Pierre is 23-23 on the season coming into tonights doubleheader after a split with Mitchell on Wednesday. Between the two games, Post 8 Head Coach Scott Hesla, Assistan Coach Matt Sisk and the eight senior players on this years team will be recognized during an on-field ceremony. The eight are Brailey Benton, Nate Buscher, Eliott Coughlin, Gage Curtis, Alex McGuigan, Mac Mercer, Jared Neilan and Joe Snyder. The annual Russ Snyder Memorial Scholarship will also be given to one of the players. Snyder was a former Post 8 baseball player who went on to play college baseball where he was a two year all conference performer. Snyder passed away in 2000.
