Pheasants Lose Late Lead and Drop a Game to Winnipeg

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Winnipeg Goldeyes made a late-inning comeback to take down the Sioux Falls Pheasants 8-6 Thursday night in Sioux Falls.  The Pheasants had a 6-3 lead going into the eighth inning, but Winnipeg tallied four runs in the frame, all off of reliever Dan Cooper (1-3). Jose Duran’s RBI-double gave the Goldeyes a 7-6 advantage of which they would not relinquish.  Four Pheasants had multi-hit performances. Jarrod Bolden was 3-for-4 with two RBI, Trevor Lawhorn was 2-for-5, and Al Quintana finished 3-for-4 and added one RBI.  Billy Spottiswood (1-2) earned the win in relief of starter Ace Walker. He hurled one inning and gave up one run on two hits. He struck out two batters and walked one in the seventh inning.  Prior to the game, the Toronto Blue Jays picked up Pheasants’ closer Cody Evans. He will report to their high-A, Florida State League affiliate in Dunedin, Fla.  Game two of the series is tonight in Sioux Falls.
