National High School Finals Rodeo Moves into Final Two Days

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. – South Dakota is 7th overall in the team standings with the boys in 9th place and the girls in first after 9 performances of the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming.  Texas leads both the boys and girls standings and has the lead in the overall team standings.  Last night after the 9th performance, several South Dakota Cowboys and Cowgirls placed.  Georgia Edoff of Hermosa scored a 203 to finish 9th in Girls Cutting.  Tate Thybo of Belle Fourche scored a 60 to finish 3rd in Bull Riding.  Kyndall Latham of Flandreau had a time of 17.968 to finish 8th in Barrell Racing.  Taylor Engesser of Spearfish continues to hold the lead in both the second round and the average.  In Boys Cutting Jett Peterson of Parade had a 9th place finish with a score of 195.  Drew Cowan of Highmore sits in 6th place in the All Around Cowboy competition while Kristi Steffes of Vale is 6th in the All Around Cowgirl.  There are only four more performances at the NHSFR with two scheduled for today and two including the final performance tomorrow night.
