Corps Looking at Water System Pipeline Which Surfaced Onto Lake Oahe

Tri County Pipe on Lake Oahe

EAGLE BUTTE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Corps of Engineers is trying to determine what might have caused a 20-50 foot section of a water service pipeline to rise to the surface of Lake Oahe. Eric Stasch-Operations Manager for the Corps’ Oahe Project-says that divers are going to look at the pipe, which is part of the Tri County Water Association’s water system. Tri County has an old intake near Minneconjou Recreation Area that it has been using to pull water from Lake Oahe to serve its customers while a new intake is repaired. Stasch says pipe near the old intake likely got an air bubble into the line, which caused a portion of the 14-inch line to rise on top of the water yesterday. Tri County warns boaters who may be in the water near where the pipe is on the lake to be careful.
