Corps Checking Floating Water System Pipeline Segment/Tri County Advises Caution

Water Pipeline Surfaces on Lake Oahe

EAGLE BUTTE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Tri County Water System of Eagle Butte is warning boaters who are in the vicinity of Minneconjou Recreation Area that they may encounter floating black poly pipe in Lake Oahe. Part of the 14 inch pipeline has reportedly surfaced onto the lake as work is being done on the intake structure for the Tri County/Mni Waste Water Company. It’s believed that air may have gotten into the pipeline causing it to float to the surface. About mid-afternoon Thursday, the Corps of Engineers sent workers out to the where it’s said the pipe section is floating to investigate it. Tri County says the floating pipe could be a hazard for boaters and advises caution for those boating on Lake Oahe in the Minneconjou area.
