PIERRE, S.D. – A four run 6th inning propelled your Pierre Post 8 American Legion baseball team to a come from behind 5-4 win over Mitchell in the second game of last night’s baseball doubleheader at Hyde Stadium. Mitchell won the opening game 7-5. Alex McGuigans sacrifice fly scored what proved to be the game winning run in the 6th inning of the nightcap. Mac Mercer pitched a scoreless 7th to gain a save and give Gage Curtis a win after throwing the first 6 innings allowing 4 runs on 3 hits. None of the runs were earned. Jared Nielan kept his hot bat going 3 for 3 with a double and Curtis helped his own cause with a 2 for 3 night and a RBI. In the opener, Pierre built a 5-2 lead after the first inning but would not score again in the game as Mitchell pecked away and a 3 run 6th inning put them past Post 8 and into the win column. With the doubleheader split, Pierre has won 3 of their last 4 and improved their record to 23-23 on the season. They close out the regular season tomorrow night when they host Sioux Falls Post 307 in their final home games of the season.
