WINNER, S.D. – (DRG News) The SDSU Extension Service will reportedly hold drought meetings at each of its Regional Extension Centers next week. Preliminary plans for the Monday meetings include connecting the SDSU Campus, the West River Ag Center and each of the eight Regional Extension Centers via interactive audio-video conferencing to address questions producers might have about the ongoing dry weather. The Regional Extension Centers are located in Aberdeen, Lemmon, Mitchell, Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Watertown and Winner. Bob Fanning of Winner, Plant Pathology Field Specialist, says it’s expected that producers will likely have questions about salvaging drought-stressed corn for livestock feed as hay or silage, nitrate poisoning, testing water for salt levels and other drought related issues. The Drought Meetings at each of the Extension Centers will be held at 7:00 p.m. Central/6:00 p.m. Mountain on Monday evening.
