Presho Firefighters Put Out Blaze at City Dump

Firefighters Fighting Fire

PRESHO, S.D. (DRG News) Presho Firefighters spent some time over the weekend at the city dump–after a large tree pile started on fire on Saturday. Presho Fire Chief Donny Manger says crews were called to the landfill about 1:30 p.m. Saturday. They were able to keep the blaze mostly contained to the burning trees and the landfill; however it did start nearby grass on fire-burning less than an acre of grass. Firefighters kept an eye on the fire the rest of the day Saturday until winds went down. On Sunday morning, Manger says fire crews returned to the site of the blaze, knocked the tree piles down and worked about two hours to extinguish the fire.
