PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre 13-14 Teener Black Sox downed the Rapid City Post 320 Rising Stars 4-2 during the first day of the Joe Kirley Memorial Baseball Tournament that began yesterday at Hyde Stadium in Pierre. The Pierre Gray Sox Teener squad was not as fortunate as they were defeated 15-3 in 3 innings by Sioux Falls East. For the Gray Sox, Spencer Sarringer had a double for Pierre’s only extra base hit. In the Black Sox win, Max Reinke hit a solo home run for Pierre and Devon Grant pitched the first five innings to get the win with relief help from Nathan Zimmerman. Today’s schedule is still five games but several matchups have been changed. Action starts at 9:30 a.m. with Aberdeen vs. Sioux Falls West, followed by Sioux Falls East vs. Winner at noon. At 2:30 p.m., Aberdeen will play Rapid City Post 320, followed by Watertown against the Pierre Gray Sox at 5 p.m.. The day’s final contest features Winner vs. Pierre Black Sox at 7:30 p.m. Tomorrow’s three games have Sioux Falls East taking on the Pierre Gray Sox at noon; Rapid City 320 plays Watertown at 2:30 p.m. and Sioux Falls West faces the Pierre Black Sox at 5 p.m.
