PIERRE, S.D. – The first day of the Doug Koester Memorial Baseball Tournament is today in Pierre at Hyde Stadium. 3 games are on tap with the Pierre Green Sox (Split Squad) opening the tournament with a 2:30 pm matchup against Chamberlain. At 4:45 pm Chamberlain will face Webster and Mandan, N.D. wraps up the first day of the tournament with a matchup once again with Pierre Post 8. Pierre swept a doubleheader from Mandan last night and is 3-1 on the season against the Chiefs, the defending North Dakota State American Legion Champions, who are struggling this year with a 10-23 record. Pierre is over the .500 mark for the first time this season with last nights doubleheader sweep at 18-17. The tournament wraps up tomorrow with 3 more games beginning at 11 am Mandan taking on Webster. Mandan will wrap up tournament play with a 1:15 pm game against the Pierre Green Sox (Split Squad). Then the Post 8 Varsity will wrap up the tournament with a scheduled 3 pm start time against Webster.
