GETTYSBURG, S.D. – (DRG News) The Potter County Commission met yesterday for its regular commission meeting and voted to enact a burn ban for the county. Cheryl Sautner, Emergency Manager for Potter County, says this is the second time this year the county has established a burn ban. The previous ban in May was short-and only lasted about a week. Saunter says as in many counties, conditions in Potter County are very dry right now. The ban will go into effect tomorrow morning at 12:01 a.m. and last until further notice. Saunter says the ban is being delayed so the Gettysburg Chamber can have its fireworks display. She advises people to be careful with fireworks in the next 24 hours and take precautionary measures to avoid fireworks related fires.
