RAPID CITY, S.D - The Pierre Post 8 Legion baseball team fell to Canon City, Colo., in a morning contest at the Black Hills Classic, hosted by Rapid City Post 320. Post 8 could only register one hit, a single by Carson Eisenbeisz to lead off the third inning, against Canon City pitcher Austin Douglas. Douglas spent almost the entire game getting ahead in the count, and Post 8 batters were kept guessing all game long. Gage Curtis took the loss on the mound for Pierre, giving five runs only five hits in 3 2/3 innings. Ryan Goodwin finished the game with a scoreless relief effort. The loss ends Pierre’s tournament play with a 2-2 mark after beating the Post 320 Shooting Stars and Loveland, Colo. and falling to Williston, ND. Post 8 returns home Friday with a 16-17 season mark to host Mandan in a double-header leading into the Doug Koester Memorial Tournament Saturday and Sunday at Hyde Stadium.
