PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A Pierre youngster riding his bike was taken to the hospital last night after he was hit by a vehicle. Pierre Police Captain Elton Blemaster says the accident occurred about 10:05 p.m. near the intersection of Poplar and Prospect Avenues. Blemaster says a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 35-year-old Pierre man was northbound on North Poplar when the vehicle collided with the bicyclist-who was eastbound on Prospect. The 8-year-old juvenile male on the bike received some minor lacerations and was taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Healthcare Center. The Suburban received about $250 in damage.
