Pierre White Sox Drop Both Games of Doubleheader at Watertown

¬†WATERTOWN, S.D. – The Pierre 15-16 White Sox Teener Baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Watertown yesterday. And both games were apparently league contest as Watertown informed Pierre they were not making the return trip to Pierre next month. Normally, VFW League standings are counted in the first game of doubleheaders and the second game is a development game. But Watertown counted both games in the league standings. “They won the first game 12-6 breaking open a tie game at 6 in the 4th inning. In the nightcap, Pierre was leading 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th inning before Watertown broke through for two runs to claim a 3-2 win. League standings determine who takes part in the State VFW tournament in August. The Green Sox are at home tomorrow and Sunday as they play in the Kris Stephans Memorial tournament at Hyde Stadium.
