PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Motorists in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area are being reminded that bicyclists will be on the road tomorrow as part of the Wellmark Tour de Oahe bike ride. The event will be based out of the Oahe Downstream Area. Several of the participants will leave the area-just below Oahe Dam about 7:00 a.m. tomorrow and go north of Highway 1806 on the west side of the dam. Around 9:30 a.m., about 50 riders will trek the “Dam Loop” that comes through Pierre from Highway 1804 north. They will ride on Grand, Elizabeth, Highland, Church, Governors Drive, Broadway, in the Capitol parking lot, Ree and then along the bike path to Steamboat Park. Bikers will then travel across the bridge to Marion Gardens, follow the Stanley Trail and arrive back at the Oahe Downstream Area. Local coordinator Randy Brich says all bicyclists should be done with their routes by about 1:00 p.m. Brich says participants represent ten states and 17 communities in South Dakota. He asks that motorists be aware that the event is occurring and expect to see a large number of riders on Saturday morning.
