PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Today brings the annual field day to the Dakota Lakes Research Farm east of Pierre. Dr. Dwayne Beck, who manages Dakota Lakes, says the event is being hosted in partnership with South Dakota State University. Several topics will be covered. Beck says SDSU Extension Field Specialist Bob Fanning and SDSU Winter Wheat Breeder Dr. Bill Berzonsky will discuss Wheat Breeding Programs and disease prevention in wheat.
Beck says other subjects that will be discussed today include alternative crops and crop rotations. Speakers include SDSU Extension Field Specialists in Agronomy-Ruth Beck and John Rickertsen and SDSU Extension Oilseed Specialist Kathy Grady.
Beck says topics range with each year’s field day-and usually pertains to the issues of interest to producers from year to year.
Today’s Field Day is free and open to the public. Dakota Lakes Research Farm is located about 17 miles east of Pierre on Highway 34-at the junction of Canning Road and Highway 34. The tours start at 3:00 p.m. with the last tour beginning at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 224-6357.
