Hoven, S.D. – (DRG News) A local student has been chosen as a 2012 New Century Farmer. Maria Rausch from Hoven was selected to participate in the 2012 New Century Farmer Program from July 8th thru the 14th in Johnston, Iowa. Rausch, a current student at South Dakota State University, will be one of fifty young people representing 24 states who will participate in the program. Rausch will take part in a series of workshops and sessions during the conference. Topics include, global marketplace, farm financing, demographic trends and risk management. Students will also learn about and experience the latest developments in agriculture technology. The program is designed to provide students with valuable skills and knowledge applicable to their own farming operations.
