It’s just hours away..Oahe Days 2012! After being cancelled last year because of the flood, this year’s Oahe Days is returning bigger and better than ever. The event became a summer mainstay in the Pierre area more than thirty years ago, but it faded away for a time. It returned to the June fun calendar again about five years ago and has been enjoyed by many. Vendor Chair Jessica Stange says several new activities are on the calendar this weekend.
Stange says people are still needed to volunteer for the token booth and to check ID’s. Volunteers can sign up to help Friday from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Those that would like to help out can contact the Pierre Chamber at 224-7361 or e-mail Stange at firstname.lastname@example.org. Oahe Days President Brad Curtis assures visitors to the event that it will be worth a visit this weekend for food, fun, music and more.
Tomorrow, Oahe Days kicks off with a parade at six o’clock and activities continue into Sunday. Check out the website www.oahedays.com.
