PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) South Dakota’s Adjutant General for the South Dakota National Guard received an anniversary card yesterday that honors the 150 years of service by the guard to the state and nation. The South Dakota National Guard Museum in Pierre had an open house on Saturday and several people signed the card after visiting the facility. Museum Director Sonja Johnson says there were at least 80 visitors on Saturday and she thought creating the card to present it to Major General Timothy Reisch would be a good way to express thanks to the Guard.
Reisch says he appreciates the support offered through the card and said it would be displayed at Camp Rapid for others to see.
Reisch says the Guard was overwhelmed by the many people in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area who offered their thanks for the Guard’s assistance during and after last year’s flood.
Johnson says she was happy for the number of visitors that stopped by the museum on Saturday to see what it has to offer.
The South Dakota National Guard Museum is located at 301 East Dakota Avenue in Pierre.
