BROOKINGS, S.D. – After going 0-2 in pool play, the Pierre Pride 14U fastpitch softball team bounced back to take 2 out of 3 games and earn third place at the Brookings Blast Tournament. Pierre Pride avenged a pool play loss by beating the Sioux Falls Cyclones 7-2 In the 3rd place game. Earlier in the day, Pierre Pride downed the Mitchell Hurricanes 4-2 in the quarter finals. Defensive lapses were costly in an 8-2 semi-final loss to Madison. In pool play, the Pride dropped two games by a total of just 5 runs, losing 4-1 to Madison and 6-4 to the Cyclones. Abby Keith and Sammi Bahe shared pitching duties all weekend; Keith tallied 14 innings while Bahe tossed 9 innings total. Kallie Stout was solid behind the plate, catching all five games. The rest of the tourney team included Meghan Buscher, Brianna Dufour, Sierra Nelson and Maci Puepke. The Pierre Pride will take part in the Interlakes Tournament at Madison on June 16-17 and at the Leo Rang Memorial Tournament in Mitchell June 23-24.
