PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) It’s been almost a month since an open house was held at the new location for the Great Lakes of South Dakota Tourism Association. The organization moved from Pierre to the Oahe Dam Visitor and Interpretive Center in recent weeks. GLSDTA Executive Director Karen Kern says the change has been a great one for everyone involved and the number of visitors at the center was at 800 last month.

Kern says the center has also seen international visitors stop by.

Previously, the center was only manned during summer months, but now that the Great Lakes Association has established its offices there, Kern believes it will be a great way to communicate with visitors to central South Dakota.

Kern says the exhibits that were already placed at the center will be rotating in coming months and will relate to the river region.
