PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Rattlers amatuer baseball team opened up the home portion of the their season with a resounding 24-6 win over Miller last night at Hyde Stadium. The Rattlers only had 8 hits but took advantage of 16 walks and 3 hit batsman issued by 3 Miller pitchers in the game called after 5 innings on the 15 run rule. Jordan Smith was the winning pitcher for the Rattlers in his first outing of the season. Harry Decker, Bret and Brian Graves each had doubles driving in runs for the Rattlers who won for the 5th time in 6 games this early season. Decker finished with a 3 hit night and 4 RBI’s. Bob Bennet pitched the fifth inning striking out two. With the win, Pierre improves to 5 and 1 on the season. The Rattlers return to action on Sunday when they host Redfield, the number 2 rated team in Class B, and Custer in a triangular at Hyde Stadium. Pierre and Redfield are scheduled to play at 1 pm followed by Custer and Redfield. Pierre and Custer end the day with a 5 pm first pitch.
