PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) June 16th will bring an event to Pierre to help raise money to repair and preserve the 122-year-old Girl Scout Cabin at Steamboat Park. Last year’s flood took a toll on the historic building. The structure needs a new roof and other repairs. The Pierre Girl Scouts have taken care of the cabin since 1928 and will host an open house there on Saturday, June 16. Organizers are inviting people to stop by from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. that day to visit the cabin and support the Girl Scouts in raising money to help keep the cabin from further deterioration. Scouts will sell barbeques, chips and pop, along with baked goods that day. If you would like to make a donation to the “Save the Girl Scout Cabin” project, contact Bonnie Gallagher at 280-9987.
