Ex-Governor’s Son Wins GOP Primary For SD House

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – The son of former South Dakota Gov. George Mickelson has won a Republican nomination for state House.
Mark Mickelson captured more than half of the vote in the newly configured District 13, which includes central and southern Sioux Falls.
Steve Westra edged out Frank Alvine for the other Republican nomination.
The elder Mickelson was a popular governor who died in his second term on a mission to secure economic development opportunities.
Mark Mickelson’s grandfather also served in the House and as governor.
