UNDATED – (DRG News) Voters across the state are going to cast their ballots for a variety of different races today. Several local contests are found in some central South Dakota counties.
In Jones County, voters will select one of five Republicans running to fill the Treasurer’s post now held by Beverly Andrews. Those on today’s ballot are Beth Feddersen, Kimberly Djodjic, Diana Hendricks, Elaine Buxcel and Robin Stoner. Auditor John Brunskill says the winner of today’s race will go on to face Independent Debra J. Byrd in November. Voters in Precinct 3 in Jones County will also select from two Republicans running for commissioner, including incumbent Pressler Seymour and challenger Steve Iwan.
In Potter County, three Republicans are running for the States Attorney post, including current States Attorney Craig Smith-who is being challenged by Sarah Larson and Joan Elayne Powell. Potter County also has a county commission race for District 2 today.
Lyman County voters will fill two spots on the Republican ballot for County Commission. The top two vote getters among Leroy Choal, Robert Christensen, Adam Ehlers and Monte Diehm will go on to face Democratic candidates Eugene Mertens and David Reis in November.
There’s also a States Attorney race in Hughes County and School Board races in the Pierre and Stanley County School Districts.
