SDSU Extension Winter Wheat Tours Start June 12 in Leola-Include Stop in Faulkton



A series of SDSU Extension Winter Wheat Tours start next week and will highlight various cover crops and varieties. The tours will be held in Leola on June 12 at 9:30 a.m.; later that day in Clark and in Faulkton on June 14-starting at 1:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend. Each plot will feature Hard Red Winter Wheat variety plots and either starter or nitrogen fertility demonstrations. The Faulkton plot will include a cover crop demonstration featuring radishes seeded into winter wheat. Speakers that have been asked to make presentations include Bill Berzonsky, SDSU winter wheat breeder; Ron Gelderman, SDSU Extension Soils Specialist; Mark Rosenberg, SDSU Agronomy-Weeds Field Specialist and Bob Fanning, SDSU Plant Pathology Field Specialist.
