EDEN PRAIRE, Minn. (AP) – Safety Harrison Smith becomes the 8th member of a 10-member 2012 draft class to sign with the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings selected Smith with the 29th choice in the 1st round after making a trade with the Baltimore Ravens. The Notre Dame graduate becomes just the 3rd defensive back (Joey Browner-’83, Dewayne Washington-’94) selected in the 1st round by the Vikings in the teams’ 52-year history. Smith is the 3rd player from Notre Dame that has been selected by the Vikings in the 1st round (Jack Snow-’65, Alan Page-’67).
