SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -The Sioux Falls Pheasants couldn’t overcome a six-run fifth inning by the Lincoln Saltdogs and fell, 10-5, Friday night at Sioux Falls Stadium. The big inning was led by A.J. Miller’s three-run double and Joe Spiers’ RBI single, giving the Saltdogs a 9-1 cushion. Pheasants starter Mark Michael (1-2) suffered the loss. He lasted six innings, allowing nine runs, eight earned, on 13 hits. Michael yielded only one run in the first three innings, but couldn’t keep his control in the middle frames. Jonny Kaplan led the Pheasants offense, extending his hitting streak to 14-games. He tripled and went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Al Quintana and Mark Shorey each had multi-hit nights. Quintana doubled twice and drove in a run. Justin Edwards (1-0) earned the win for the Saltdogs. He tossed six innings, allowing three runs on six hits and struck out five.
