PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 American Legion baseball team picked up their first win of the season last night as they defeated Rapid City Post 320 10-3 in the first game of a doubleheader at Hyde Stadium last night. In the nightcap, Post 320 held on for a 7-6 win over Pierre to drop the Post 8 record to 1 and 6 on the season. In the opener, Cody Honeywell pitched 6 innings allowing 3 runs in picking up the first win of the season. Jared Nielan pitched a scoreless 7th. A 8 run 5th inning broke open the opening game with Nielan going 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI’s to lead the way. In the nightcap, Pierre scored twice in the 7th inning but lef the tieng run on base as they lost their 6th game of the season. Ryan Goodwin went 5 innings in the start and took the loss allowing 5 runs in the third inning. Pierre takes the weekend off but returns to action on Monday when they host Yankton in a doubleheader at Hyde Stadium.
