SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Four Lincoln Saltdogs errors and Mark Shorey’s go-ahead, three-run home run in the fifth inning led the Sioux Falls Pheasants to a 12-6 win on Thursday night. Shorey broke a 6-6 tie with his first home run of the year, a giant shot that sailed over the right field fence to give the Pheasants a 9-6 lead, a lead they would not relinquish. Jarrod Bolden was 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Joe Anthonsen had his best night of the season. He was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI single in the second inning. Matthew Sommo (1-1) earned the win for the Pheasants. He pitched six innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits, striking out two and walking two. Chandler Barnard (0-2) took the loss for the Saltdogs. Barnard gave up nine runs, six earned, over five innings pitched, striking out three and walking two. Game two of the four-game series is tonight in Sioux Falls.
