RAPID CITY, S.D. – West Central won the Class A Girls State Track and Field Championship Saturday in Rapid City. The Trojans scored 65 points to edge runner up Madison by 2 points. Mobridge Pollock scored 9 points to finish 25th while Miller finished in a tie for 26th with 6 points. The Madison boys won the Class A State Championship scoring 91 points. Mobridge-Pollock and Chamberlain finished 4th and 5th in the final team standings. Stanley County scored 3 points to finish 38th. Viborg-Hurley won the Boys Class B State Championship scoring 58.5 points, 18.5 points better than runner up Irene-Wakonda. Sully Buttes scored 27 points to finish 9th. Gettysburg was 19th. Herman Kleinsasser of the Chargers won the 100 meter dash in a time of :11.47. He also captured first place in the 200 meter dash with a winning time of :22.93 to lead the Chargers. In the Girls Division, Ipswich won the team title scoring 89 points, 27 more than runner up Oldham-Ramona-Rutland.
