PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) June brings the annual 2012 Governor’s Ag Development Summit and this year, the event will be held in Pierre. The June 27 summit takes place at the Ramkota. Lucas Lentsch, Director of Ag Development in the South Dakota Department of Agriculture, says before the summit starts, there will be a Key Leaders’ Ag Roundtable-on June 26.
Lentsch says the Ag Development Summit is a good chance for people from all facets of the ag industry to gather and discuss how to expand agricultural business.
Lentsch says some of the speakers at the summit this year will focus on agricultural policy, there will be panel discussions on exporting and international trade and livestock development and the closing speaker will talk about succession planning.
Lentsch says agriculture is the state’s top industry, employs more than 80,000 people and generates almost $21 billion dollars in annual economic activity. He says the Governor’s Ag Development Summit will offer conversation on the business of South Dakota agriculture.
