DOT Closes Portion of Highway 73 in Jackson County Because of Muddy Conditions

Stop Sign

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The South Dakota Department of Transportation wants motorists to know that state Highway 73 in Jackson County is closed for three miles from the junction of Highway 44-south. Reconstruction work has been underway on that portion of the highway. The asphalt surfacing has been removed, which leaves only a layer of dirt sub-base. Precipitation that’s been falling there has made the road hard to travel. Construction personnel are on site to help motorists in finding another route and to assist emergency vehicles that may need to travel through the area.
