White River Grabs Class B Boys Golf State Title




RAPID CITY, S.D. – White River came back from 7 strokes back to defeat Webster in a playoff and capture the Class B Boys State Golf Tournament title yesterday at the Hart Ranch Golf Course in Rapid City.  White River fired a second round 256 while Webster had a 263 to both finish at 515 for the tournament.  Garretson was nine shots back to finish in third.  Individually, Aaron Lickteig of Freeman defeated first round leader Cal Weise of Howard in a playoff.  Both players finished the 36 holes tied at 157.  Both finished 4 shots better than third place finisher Dillon Freudenthal of Estelline.  Elliot Shoup was the only golfer from Stanley County to play in the State Tournament.  His second round of 96 landed him a 36 hole score of 200.  Willie Colson of Sully Buttes had a 92 yesterday for a total 179 for the Chargers best finish in the tournament.
