PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Pierre Police Department says a dog it was seeking this week has been found. The canine–described as a large black lab–was being walked last Sunday when police say it bit another woman. Police were called to St. Mary’s Healthcare Center on Sunday night just after ten o’clock where a woman said she had been bit in the wrist area. Police asked for the public’s assistance in finding the dog and its owner earlier this week to make sure the dog has had its rabies shots. Pierre Police Captain Elton Blemaster said yesterday that the dog and its owner have been located. Officials say the dog was vaccinated for rabies, so the dog bite victim was not required to be treated with pre-emptive rabies shots.
