Jacks Split Doubleheader with Western Illinois

 BROOKINGS, S.D. — Zach Rhodes and Daniel Telford each drove in three runs to lead South Dakota State to a 7-2 victory over Western Illinois and a split of a Summit League baseball doubleheader Friday afternoon at Erv Huether Field. Western Illinois won the opener, 13-3, moving to 16-35-1 overall and 6-17 in The Summit League. The Jackrabbits ended the day 18-32-1 overall and 7-13 in league play. Jackrabbit starter Kolton Emery limited WIU to only two hits over the final four innings in earning his first victory of the season with a seven-inning complete game. In the opener, Western Illinois pounded out 19 hits, including a two-run home run by Matt Igara in the first inning and a three-run shot by Austin Cowen in the second inning. The two squads will close out their respective seasonsSaturday.
