FORT PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Fort Pierre Volunteer Fire Department assisted a truck driver this morning, whose semi trailer brakes had heated up and started a small tire fire. Fire Chief Rick Cronin says the truck driver was northbound on Highway 83 near Bad River Road about 10:05 a.m. when the brakes locked up and heated one of the sets of trailer brakes on the rig. The truck was pulling a flatbed which carried equipment being hauled to North Dakota. Cronin says department members cooled down the brakes and the driver was advised to have a mechanic check for damage.
