Region Golf Champions Decided in Class A Girls and Class B Boys and Girls



UNDATED – Sully Buttes won both the boys and girls team titles of the Region 5B golf tournament played yesterday at the Lee Park Golf Course in Aberdeen.  Sully Buttes scored 259 to win the boys title outdistancing Gettysburg who fired a 291 team score.  Willie Colson and Wayne Yackley each fired 83′s with Colson winning in a playoff for the boys individual medalist honors.  Shauni Schwartz of Herreid-Selby won the girls individual medalist crown with a 80 and a 12 shot victory over Jordyn Jones of Sully Buttes.


Wall won the both the boys and girls titles of the Region 6B boys and girls golf tournaments played yesterday at the Hart Ranch Golf Course in Rapid City.  Wall fired a 256 team score to claim an 11 shot victory over runner up White River.  Lane Hustead had an 82 to earn a 3 shot victory over teammate Les Williams for individual medalist honors.  In the Girls division, Wall had a 346 team score to claim a 7 shot victory over runner up Lemmon.  Madison Hand of Philip won individual medalist honors with a 93 and a 4 stroke victory over runner up Autumn Schultz of Wall.


Chamberlain fired a 408 to finish 4th but did not qualify for the team portion of the State Class A Girls Golf tournament.  The Region 3A Girls golf tournament was played yesterday in Mitchell at the Lakeview Golf Course and the tournament was won by Parkston which fired a 338 score, far ahead of runner up Mobridge-Pollock who had a 383.  Wagner was third at 402.  Parkston golfers captured the top 3 spots with Sydney Bormann firing an 80 to edge Jordon Bormann by 1 shot.  Michelle McClellan of Mobridge-Pollock finished 4th with a 90.  Chelsey Hoffman of Mobridge-Pollock had a 7th place finish with a round of 92.  Brigette Byrd had Chamberlains’ best score of the day with a 95.
