PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre School Board passed an amendment to change to the Open Enrollment Rule regarding Athletics in the states high schools at last nights regular Pierre school board meeting.  The amendment is being voted on by member schools of the South Dakota High School Activities Association this month which would change an athletes status as a varsity athlete if he or she open enrolls into another school district.  The athlete could still compete at the Junior Varisty or lower level but would have to sit out varsity competition for one year year.  The amendment needs 60 percent of approval from member school boards from across the state.  The Pierre School Board also accepted the resignations of three coaches in the Pierre system for next season.  Criag Ullmann is resigning as an 8th grade football coach.  Samson Boutchee is resigning as an 8th grade football coach and Lisa Bahe is resigning as Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach.  There was one coach hired for next year at last night’s meeting.  Tia Kafka will be the new Competitive Dance head coach replacing Sarah Hyde and Hallie Holden who shared the head coach position of that sport the last two years.
