ND, SD Govs Want Flag Tribute for Slain Police

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The governors of North Dakota and South Dakota are requesting a flag tribute for law enforcement officers who have died on the job.
North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple is ordering state government agencies to fly their American and North Dakota flags at half-staff today from sunrise to sunset.
South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard is asking South Dakotans to fly their flags at half-staff at their homes, offices and businesses today.
The flag tribute is part of a national Peace Officers Memorial Day today. President Barack Obama has proclaimed this week as Police Week.
North Dakota U.S. Attorney Tim Purdon is speaking at a Peace Officers Memorial Day ceremony in Fargo’s Lindenwood Park today.
