SPEARFISH, S.D. -  Spearfish High School announced Wednesday that Eric Lappe has been named the Spartans’ next girls basketball head coach. Formal approval is expected from the local board of education at Monday’s regularly-scheduled meeting.  Lappe, who will teach language arts in Spearfish, was most recently the boys head coach at Wilmot High School. Lappe served as the school’s girls coach from 2000-2007 before taking over the boys position. Lappe recorded 105 varsity victories during his time at Wilmot.  Lappe was a All State performer for Harrold High School leading the Cardinals to the 1992 State Class B championship.  Lappe takes over for Bryce Hall, who resigned to spend more time with his family after his fourth year ended with a 56-51 loss to eventual Class A state champion St. Thomas More in the District 16A championship game.
