PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A public forum for the candidates running for the State House of Representatives and State Senate in District 24 will be held later this month. The forum will feature the House candidates at 6:00 p.m. followed by Senate candidates at 7:00 p.m. The forum is being organized by the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee. Chamber CEO Laura Schoen Carbonneau says the forum is technically for the June primary; however the winners will not have challengers in November, so this will be the voters’ chance to hear from all candidates before they cast their ballots. The committee organizing the forum is asking for public questions to be sent to the chamber by Friday, May 18. They will review all questions and decided which to include the night of the forum. Questions can be sent to the Chamber at 800 West Dakota Avenue in Pierre, 57501, faxed to 224-6485, e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or submitted online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/568WV98. People can also submit questions at the forum and the moderator will decide whether to include them in the discussion. Schoen Carbonneau says she hopes for a good turnout at the event, which will be Tuesday, May 22 at the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce Community Room.
