MOBRIDGE, S.D. – (DRG News) The South Dakota Department of Transportation is advising motorists to take an alternate route instead of using Highway 65 between McIntosh and Isabel because precipitation has made travel difficult through a stretch of the road that is under construction. The DOT says heavy precipitation has made it tough to travel through the 1.7 mile grading and bridge project on Highway 65. Rain last Friday resulted in the road section being closed for about a day. John Villbrandt, Mobridge Area Engineer for the DOT says a new bridge is being built on the highway across the Grand River and grading work is being done on both sides of the structure. One portion of the road south of the river is a dirt surface and rain makes it too muddy to travel through. Motorists are being encouraged for a time to take an alternate route. Further rains could result in the road segment being closed. For more information on road closures, construction and other details, call 5-1-1 or go to www.safetravelusa.com/sd.
