PIERRE, S.D. (AP) – A state legislative panel is looking into a shortage of veterinarians in South Dakota.
State Veterinarian Dustin Oedekoven is scheduled to meet Tuesday with the Legislature’s Government Operations and Audit Committee.
The panel has asked Oedekoven to discuss which areas of the state have shortages of large-animal veterinarians. The committee also wants to look into incentive programs that are in place to help South Dakota students attend veterinary schools in other states and then return to South Dakota to practice.
