UNDATED – Two football players from a pair of South Dakota schools will get their chance to play in the National Football League next season. Tom Compton, a offensive lineman who played for the University of South Dakota, was drafted on Saturday in the 6th round be the Washington Redskins. And Dale Moss, who played only one season of college football at South Dakota State, was not drafted, but signed a free agent contract and is a member of the Green Bay Packers. Both players will partipate in Mini Camps by both teams next month. A third player with South Dakota ties, Kyle Mertens of Spearfish, signed a free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers on Saturday. Mertens, a punter, played his college football for Rice where he averaged over 43 yards per kick his senior season.
