22 Pounds of Medication Gathered in Saturday’s Drug Take Back Event

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Pierre Police Department conducted its fourth Drug Take Back event on Saturday. The program allows people to bring unused or expired medicines for disposal and is coordinated by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Pierre Police Captain Elton Blemaster says 22 people brought medicines for Saturday’s Drug Take Back Day. A total of 22 pounds of medication were handed over by those citizens. The events have resulted in as many as 45 pounds of prescription medicines being collected in Pierre-in April of last year. The first Take Back program to be held in Pierre was in the fall of 2010.
