STURGIS, S.D. – Pierre Lady Governor distance runner Rachel Propst won again Saturday at the Black Hills Classic Track and Field meet in Sturgis. Propst won the 3200 meter runs in a time of 11:35.12. And Sydney Palmer took the Shot Put title at Sturgis with a winning toss of 37-03. Those were the only champions the Lady Govs had on the day but they had severel other outstanding performances. Courtney Dowling finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of :12.44. Tess Johnson finished second in the 10 meter hurdles with a time of :`15.48. The Lady Govs 4×100 meter relay squad finished second with a time of :50.88. The 4×400 relay team finished second with a time of 4:13.16 and the 1600 sprint medley relay team finished second on the day with a time of 4:33.53. For the Governor boys, a pair of relay teams finished second on the day. The 4×100 relay team had a time of :46.43 and the 4×200 relay had a time of 1:35.96. Shay Reinke of the Governors finished third in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of :15.74. The lone champion on the day for the Governors was Conner Berg who won the long jump with a leap of 20-09. And Joe Snyder of the Governors was third in the triple jump with a 40-06.25 effort. The Governors and Lady Governors will return to the track next weekend when they compete in the Sioux Falls O’Gorman Invitational.
